We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant/Paralegal for a local City Attorney's office.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts statistical and documentary research.
- Assists attorneys' in preparation for court hearings and trials.
- Prepares legal memoranda, briefs, pleadings, subpoenas and suggests solutions.
- Drafts agreements, resolutions and ordinances to be approved by the City Attorney.
- Organizes office and litigation files.
- Maintains legal calendar and dockets on pending cases.
- Effectively and positively represents the City in delivering and performing work with colleagues and clients
- Establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with work colleagues, supervisors and managers.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a paralegal or other legal related field
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited university with a major in paralegal or legal assistance, plus two (2) years of municipal legal secretary experience.
- Additional similar experience may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis.
- Additional education and experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the above requirements.
- Familiarity with legal research
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Deadline and detail-oriented
Schedule:
- Monday - Thursday, 7:00am - 6:00pm
- Assignment Length: 4 months or more

Pay: From $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
