Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Civil Engineer to act as temporary Director of the Engineering Department, performing daily civil engineering tasks, possessing management skills, having experience in public resident interactions, and navigating the political aspects of the role for a local government office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing construction projects while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in engineering software, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop civil engineering projects including roads, bridges, and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Conduct land surveying and prepare schematics for project plans.
- Utilize engineering software such as AutoCAD, Mathcad, and Bluebeam for drafting and analysis.
- Perform hydrological modeling using HEC software to assess water flow and drainage systems.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure project specifications are met.
- Analyze project feasibility through GIS data to support decision-making processes.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation for project proposals and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor construction progress and conduct site inspections to ensure adherence to design specifications.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required.
- Proficiency in engineering software including AutoCAD, Mathcad, GIS, HEC, and Bluebeam is highly desirable.
- Civil Engineering, Engineering Degree, PE License, Engineering and Office Management.
- Experience in mechanical engineering principles is a plus.
- Familiarity with land surveying techniques and wastewater treatment processes is advantageous.
- Strong mathematical skills with the ability to apply engineering concepts effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail are essential.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
