The Forensic Technician plays a crucial role in the criminal justice system by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting physical evidence from crime scenes. This position requires a keen attention to detail and a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and forensic science principles. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge in various areas including anatomy, toxicology, and biochemistry, as well as familiarity with NIST standards and laboratory equipment such as spectrometers.
Skills-: Fully qualified analyst in the Biology DNA discipline with testifying experience. Must be trained by the FDLE training program and be knowledgeable and qualified in current testing protocol. Review of data from outsourcing vendors for FDLE review. Proficiency testing is current.
Equipment -: Laptop provided by Dept.
Software to be used-: LIMS,Office Suite, GMIDX, STRMIX
Mandatory-: DNA Analysis, STRMix, GMIDX with Globalfiler analysis and interpretation
Duties-: Reviews DNA cases sent for outsourcing and completes the review and CODIS entry. Technical reviews of current casework.
